Portable Storage Pricing, Explained

Every quote is built for your move

No rate card. Just a quote that fits your job.

Where you are, how long you need the container, how many times we move it and whether it stays on site or at our yard all change the total, so a single posted price would be wrong for most people. Tell us those few details and we’ll send back a real number for your job.

There are almost always deals or discounts running, so ask before you budget. We’re locally owned, and our quotes usually beat the national companies.

Two charges. That’s it.

Every Velox rental comes down to two things:

1. A monthly rental rate for the container itself. Month to month, no contract. If you only need it for part of a month, you’re only billed for that part.

2. A move fee each time we move the container: delivery to you, pickup when you’re done, or a relocation to a new address or to our yard.

That’s the whole structure. No admin fee, no surprise line item at the end. Your quote lists both before you book.

How the move fee works

Our containers are delivered by our own trucks from our own yards: Springville and Pleasant Grove in Utah County, and Brighton in the Denver area.

Utah: one flat move fee per county. Everyone in Utah County pays the same delivery fee; everyone in Washington County pays the same (higher) one. No mileage math, no surprises based on which side of town you're on.

Denver area: one flat move fee within 30 miles of our Brighton yard. That covers most of the metro. Beyond 30 miles, the move fee is the flat fee plus a per-mile charge for the extra distance, which is how we reach Fort Collins and Colorado Springs.

Because the fee depends on your county or your distance, we quote it rather than post one number. A quote takes a couple of minutes, and you'll talk to the owner, not a call center.

How your bill is put together

Every Velox quote is built from the same two lines: the monthly rate for the container and a move fee for each trip. What changes from one job to the next is mostly the move fee, because it depends on where we have to drive.

Your situationHow your quote is built
Utah, same county as our yard
Utah County, served from Springville and Pleasant Grove
Monthly rate plus one flat move fee for Utah County, our shortest run
Utah, a different county
Salt Lake, Davis, Weber, Washington and beyond
Monthly rate plus one flat move fee for that county, higher the further we drive
Colorado, within 30 miles of Brighton
Covers most of the Denver metro
Monthly rate plus one flat move fee
Colorado, beyond 30 miles
Fort Collins, Colorado Springs and the far Front Range
Monthly rate plus the flat fee and a per-mile charge for the extra distance
Stored at a Velox yard instead of your driveway
Every lot is gated and secured
Monthly rate plus a move fee in and a move fee out. The yard itself costs nothing extra

Move fees are quoted per job because they depend on your county or your distance, not on a national rate card. Optional add-ons (content insurance, unit protection and a lock) are priced separately and shown on the quote.

A three-month move in Utah County

Three months of rent plus two moves: we deliver the empty container and collect it when you’re done, each at Utah County’s flat move fee. That’s the whole bill. Need a fourth month? It’s one more month of rent and nothing else.

If the container goes to our yard in the middle

Say you close on the new house a month later than planned. The loaded container sits in our gated yard until you’re ready. The monthly rate doesn’t change (the yard adds nothing) and you pay the move fee to bring it in and again to bring it back out to you.

Moving to St. George or southern Utah

We load you in Utah County, store the loaded container until your southern Utah place is ready, haul it down, let you unload it there, and bring the empty unit back on the same trip. Because the truck doesn’t make a second journey, you skip the final pickup fee entirely.

What changes your quote

  • Your county (Utah) or your distance from Brighton (Colorado). This sets the move fee. Utah County and the Denver metro are our shortest runs; northern Utah, southern Utah and the far ends of the Fort Collins–Colorado Springs corridor cost more to reach.
  • How long you keep it. Tell us your best guess. Month to month means you can extend or return early without a penalty either way.
  • Where the container lives. Keep it in your driveway or on your job site, or have us store it at one of our gated, secured yards. Storage at our yard costs nothing extra; you just pay the move fee to bring it in and the move fee to bring it back.
  • How many moves. Delivery and final pickup are the standard two. A relocation (loaded, to a new house or a second site) is a third.
  • Add-ons. Content insurance, unit protection and a lock are optional and priced separately. We'll show them on the quote; take them or leave them.

Restoration, insurance and contractor accounts

If you're a restoration company, insurance adjuster or contractor placing containers on a recurring basis, you're on partner pricing rather than the residential rate. Partner accounts get volume-based rates, faster scheduling and one point of contact. See our partner program →

Portable storage vs self storage

Self-storage means renting a truck, loading twice and driving to a facility. U-Box and PODS ship from regional hubs and quote from a national rate card. Velox delivers from a local yard, so you load once, keep it where the work is, and pay a flat local move fee instead of a national average. What's included in every rental

  • One 8×16 all-steel, weather-sealed container. Same container for everyone; it holds roughly 3–4 rooms of belongings.
  • Delivery and placement where you want it, within what your driveway or site allows.
  • Month-to-month billing, one-month minimum, billed by the full month.
  • No long-term contract, no early-termination fee, no renewal fine print.
  • Direct line to the owner for changes, extensions or an early pickup.

Pricing FAQ

Is there a minimum rental?

Yes, one month. Rentals are month to month and billed by the full month, so even a few days is charged as one month. Most customers keep a container for one to three months, but days or a year both work.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. Your quote lists the monthly rate, the move fee and any add-ons you chose. That's what you pay. In Utah the move fee is flat for your county; in the Denver area it's flat within 30 miles of Brighton.

Do I pay more if I keep it longer?

Only the monthly rate continues. There's no price increase for extending, and no penalty for returning it early.

Does it cost extra to store the container at your yard instead of my driveway?

No. The monthly rate is the same whether the container sits in your driveway or in our gated, secured yard. The only difference is the move fee for the trip to the yard and the trip back.

How fast can you deliver?

Next-day delivery is common in Utah County and the Denver metro, and morning requests can sometimes go out the same afternoon. Farther locations are scheduled with the quote.

Do I need a permit?

Most driveway placements don't. Street placement and some HOAs do. Permit guide by city →

How is the move fee calculated?

In Utah it's a flat fee for your county — every address in the same county pays the same, with no mileage math. In Colorado it's a flat fee anywhere within 30 miles of our Brighton yard, and beyond that it's the flat fee plus a per-mile charge for the extra distance. It applies once per move: delivery, final pickup, and any relocation in between.

Is there a contract?

No. Rentals are month to month. There's nothing committing you to a term, no early-termination fee and no auto-renewing minimum. Tell us when you're done and we'll come and get it.

Why don’t you publish a price?

Because the honest answer is “it depends.” Your county or distance, how long you keep the container, how many moves you need and whether it sits at your place or ours all change the total, and there’s usually a deal or discount running on top of that. A single posted number would be wrong for most people, so we quote each job instead. It takes a couple of minutes and there’s no obligation. Restoration companies, insurance adjusters and contractors with recurring placements are on separate partner pricing.

What do I get for the monthly rate?

One 8×16 all-steel container, fully sealed and gasketed, about 800 cubic feet inside — roughly three to four rooms of household goods. It loads at ground level, so there's no ramp and no truck to drive. The rate is the same whether it sits in your driveway or in one of our gated yards.
