Portable Storage Containers in Provo, Utah

Two Velox Mobile Storage containers parked outside LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah, with Y Mountain behind

Our Springville yard is about fifteen minutes from most of Provo, which makes this one of the shortest deliveries we run. Whether you’re in Grandview, Edgemont, the Provo Bench, or a rental a few blocks from campus, a Velox storage pod can be sitting in your driveway the next day more often than not. You load it on your own schedule; we haul it to your new place or hold it at our gated yard until you want it back.

You’ve probably already seen our containers in Provo

Every football season, BYU Athletics, the Cougar Club and BYUtv rent Velox containers, so you’ll see our units parked outside LaVell Edwards Stadium from August through November. The rest of the year you’ll spot them scattered around campus for other projects. If you’ve walked past one on a game day, that’s us.

It’s a good example of what the containers are for: a locked, weatherproof room that shows up where the work is and leaves when the season’s over.

Delivering in Provo’s older neighborhoods and up on the bench

Two things about Provo are different from the rest of the county.

Near campus, space is tight. The older streets in Joaquin, Franklin and around BYU have small driveways and parking that’s hard on a good day. We can still place a unit in most of them, but the spot matters. The easiest way to book is to text us a photo of where you’d like it, and we’ll tell you before delivery day whether it works.

On the hill, we go slow. Houses above campus, in the foothills and near Rock Canyon can sit on a serious slope. When we pick up a loaded container on one of those driveways, we take it extra slow and careful. It doesn’t stop us — we’ve never turned a Provo house down for its hill — it just takes a few more minutes.

One rule to know: Provo limits a driveway container to 30 days in any 12-month period. For a move that fits inside a month, that’s fine. For anything longer, we load it at your house and hold it at our yard, which adds nothing to the monthly rate. Details are in our Utah County storage container permit guide.

Who calls us from Provo

More variety than anywhere else we serve.

  • BYU and UVU students. Semester move-outs, summer sublets, and the big one: leaving for a mission or study abroad. Pack one unit, we hold it in the yard for the eighteen months you’re gone, and it’s waiting when you land. Graduates moving across town for a first job call us just as often.
  • Remodels and restorations. There are enough homes from the 1950s through the ’70s in Provo that a kitchen, basement or addition is always underway somewhere. A container in the driveway keeps the contents dry, locked and twenty steps from the front door.
  • Small businesses. Shops and offices near Center Street and the Riverwoods use a unit for inventory, equipment and overflow instead of leasing more square footage.
  • Local moves. Most Provo moves stay in Utah County. Load over a week or two at the old place; we set it down at the new one.

One container, about 800 cubic feet

Every Velox unit is the same size, so there’s no wrong choice.

  • 8 ft wide × 16 ft long — about 800 cubic feet of space inside, all welded steel.
  • Footprint of one parking stall. It fits a standard two-car driveway with room to get past.
  • Holds up to 7,500 lb. A typical family container runs 3,000–4,000 lb.
  • Gasketed, sealed doors keep out rain and snow. It isn’t climate-controlled, so keep documents, electronics and art with you.
  • E-track and tie-down rings inside for securing furniture.
  • Placed, not dragged. The truck stays on the street and a machine lifts the container off and sets it level where you point.

As a guide, one unit usually holds a 1,500 sq ft home or two to three bedrooms. Fill one first, and order a second only if you need it. See what fits in a container.

What goes into a Provo quote

Provo is inside our flat-rate Utah County zone, so there’s no distance charge. Your price comes down to:

  • how many containers you need
  • how many months you keep it
  • how many times we move it (a delivery and a later pickup are two moves)
  • add-ons you choose — a padlock at hardware-store price, or third-party coverage for theft, fire, flood and transport damage
  • anything unusual about the placement, which we’ll tell you about before you book

No deposit. One-month minimum, then pick-up whenever you’re ready. Your rate doesn’t go up after the first month. For a local move, we usually land at well under half what the national container brands quote for the same job, and we generally have a deal or two running — ask.

Provo storage questions

How fast can you get a container to Provo?

Usually next day, sometimes same day. Springville to Provo is a short run. Book ahead for Fridays, month-end, and late April through August when students and families move at once.

I’m in a rental near campus with almost no driveway. Can you still deliver?

Often, yes. Text us a photo of the spot. If there’s no safe place on the property, we’ll load at your door on delivery day and hold the container at our yard.

My house is up on the bench with a steep driveway. Is that a problem?

No. We’ve delivered all over the foothills and Rock Canyon. We just move a loaded unit slowly on a hill. Tell us it’s steep when you book so we plan the approach.

What about the 30-day rule?

Provo allows a container on a residential driveway for 30 days in any 12-month period. If you need longer, we bring the loaded unit to our yard — the monthly rate is the same either way.

Can you store my apartment while I’m on a mission?

Yes. It’s one of the most common jobs we do in Provo. One unit, held at our gated yard for as long as you’re gone.

Is my stuff insured?

Not automatically. Check your renters or homeowners policy first. We also offer third-party coverage if you want it.
