Washington County
Portable Storage & Moving to St. George
Washington County is one of the most in-demand places to move in the country right now, and a large share of the people arriving in St. George, Washington City, Hurricane, Ivins and Santa Clara are coming down from northern Utah. That is exactly the move we have built a service around.
Here is how it works. We drop a steel 8'x16' container at your current place up north and you load it on your own schedule. If your southern Utah home is not ready — and it usually is not — we take the loaded container back to our secure yard and hold it for as long as you need. When the closing date lands, we haul it down to St. George, you unload it there, and we bring the empty container back with us on the same trip. You do not pay for a second truck to come back down and collect an empty box.
One Trip Down, No Return Pickup Fee
Most container companies charge you on every leg of a long-distance move: delivery, pickup, the haul itself, and then a return trip to retrieve the empty unit. Because our driver is already making the run, we take the empty back the same day you unload. That removes the final pickup fee entirely, which on a Wasatch Front to St. George move is the expensive leg.
The trade-off is that the unload happens while we are there, so it is worth having help lined up. In exchange, your belongings are handled once at each end and you are not paying for a truck to drive I-15 twice.

- Sealed, gasketed steel with a secure lock for the whole I-15 run
- Utah-owned, and we run this route on purpose — it is not an exception we squeeze in
What the move looks like, step by step
Load up north. We deliver an 8x16 steel container to your driveway anywhere along the Wasatch Front. It stays month to month while you pack, so you can load a room at a time rather than everything in one weekend.
We hold it. When the old house closes, we take the loaded unit to our gated yard in Utah County and keep it there. A week, a month, the whole time your St. George build takes — the yard itself costs nothing beyond the move fees in and out.
We haul it down. On the day you choose, our driver takes the container down I-15 to St. George, Washington City, Hurricane, Ivins or Santa Clara and sets it in your new driveway.
You unload while we are there. Have your help lined up. When the container is empty, our driver loads it back on the truck and brings it home on the same trip. No return pickup, no second bill for an empty box on a 500-mile round trip.
What to know about the St. George end
Newer neighborhoods in Washington City, Little Valley, Coral Canyon and Ivins mostly have wide, flat driveways and HOA rules worth a quick check before the day. Older parts of St. George and the hillside lots around the Ledges and Bloomington can have steeper approaches, and a photo of the driveway ahead of time lets us plan.
Because the unload happens while the driver waits, we want the driveway clear, the door keys in hand and the crew ready when we pull in. With four or five people, an 8x16 unit usually empties in a few hours. Two units on the same day is common for a full-house move.
The unit is welded steel with a gasketed door seal, so the load rides down I-15 dry and locked, and summer heat in Washington County is not a problem for the container itself.
Where we deliver on the St. George end
St. George: Bloomington, Little Valley, Dixie Downs, the Ledges, SunRiver and the older neighborhoods near downtown.
Washington City: Coral Canyon, Green Springs and the newer subdivisions along the freeway.
Hurricane and La Verkin: The growing east side of the county.
Ivins and Santa Clara: Kayenta, Snow Canyon and the west side of the valley.
Wherever the destination, the arrangement is the same: we hold your loaded container up north until you close, haul it down on the day you choose, you unload while the driver is there, and the empty unit rides back with us.
Moving to St. George FAQ
Do you deliver an empty container to St. George for local use?
Our Washington County service is built around the move down from northern Utah: load up north, we hold it, we haul it down, you unload while we are there. If you need a container placed and left in St. George for weeks, tell us what you are doing and we will say honestly whether it fits how we run this route.
How long can you hold my loaded container before the haul?
As long as your closing takes. Weeks and months are both normal. The unit sits locked in our gated yard, and you pay the monthly rate plus the move fees; storage at the yard does not cost extra.
What if I cannot unload everything the same day?
Tell us in advance. The standard service has our driver take the empty unit home on the same trip, which is what removes the return pickup fee. If you need the container to stay in St. George longer, we will quote that as a separate arrangement.
Can I split the move over two containers?
Yes. A full three- or four-bedroom home usually takes two units. We can haul both on the same day if the St. George driveway has room for them side by side.
How far ahead should I book the haul down?
Give us your closing date as soon as you have it, ideally two weeks or more before. The I-15 run is a full day for one of our trucks, so we schedule it deliberately rather than squeezing it in.
Can you pick up my container from Salt Lake or Davis County for the haul south?
Yes. The loading end can be anywhere along the Wasatch Front we normally serve. We deliver the empty unit there, you load it, and we bring it to our Utah County yard until the haul.
Planning a Move to Southern Utah?
Tell us your loading address up north, your St. George address, and roughly when you close. We will quote the whole move, storage included. Call 801-362-9978 or request a quote online.
Not sure how much fits? Load a real Velox unit in our 3D storage container space calculator. Tap your furniture, appliances and boxes and watch them fill the container.
